Seitz Creative Writing Scholarship

Candidates will be creative writing majors or minors who have achieved at least junior class standing (62 or more credits), a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, and must have completed ENGL 261, ENGL 303, ENGL 305 and/or ENGL 306 or their equivalents. An essay and submission of a creative writing portfolio, recent transcript and letter of application will also be required for consideration.

Supplemental Questions
  1. Have you completed English 261, and are currently enrolled in or have completed English 303, English 305, English 306 and/or their equivalents?
  2. Submit a 1,500-word essay describing your reasons for selecting creative writing as a major or minor, and explaining your goals with respect to the field of creative writing.
  3. Include a creative writing portfolio (in PDF format) that will include one of the following: Eight to ten poems; Four to five short stories, two of which may be flash fiction; Four to five poems and two to three prose pieces (whether short stories or creative non-fiction), one of which may be flash fiction.
  4. Please provide a PDF file of your most recent transcript.
  5. Please upload a letter of application (cover letter).
