The 2026 MALEHA Educational Scholarship

In 2024, the MALEHA Educational Scholarship was established by the Board of Directors to provide awards to students with the intent of pursuing a career in environmental health.

Eligibility:
· Be an undergraduate or graduate student that is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in Michigan.
· Have a declared major or concentration for a degree in environmental health, public health, or one of the natural sciences.
· Have completed and submitted the scholarship application, including a written essay, one letter of recommendation and academic transcripts before the application deadline.
· Intend to pursue a career in environmental health as demonstrated by academic record, experience and/or essay.

Selection: Scholarship applications will be reviewed and evaluated each year by the MALEHA Scholarship Review Committee and scholarship will be awarded to two students that best meet the eligibility criteria.

Awards: Two $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded annually. Award notifications will be made on or before May 1, 2026

Deadline: A complete application and supporting documents must be submittal by March 13, 2026.

Essay: Applicants are to submit a written essay that explains why environmental health is important in public health outcomes and why you want to pursue a career in environmental health. The essay must be submitted in Microsoft Word, using Times New Roman or Arial 12-point font and single spaced. The essay should be no more than 1000 words in length.

Letter of Recommendation: Applicants are to attach one letter of recommendation from a faculty member from one completed course.

Transcripts: Applicants are to attach an official copy of all academic transcripts both undergraduate and graduate as appropriate from each college or universities attended.
