MJ Brandimore Residential Life Emerging Leader Endowed Award

This award is available to new freshman students living in SVSU on-campus housing. Candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75, be enrolled full-time, and demonstrate a commitment to reaching their full potential and making a positive impact on their community. This award comes with responsibilities that include, but are not limited to: participate on the community council in their assigned residential facility; arrive on campus early to assist with housing move-in; assist the resident assistant in creating a sense of community among residents of the house or floor; attend residential community council/board meetings (otherwise known as “house government”); assist the resident assistant in developing and implementing social and academic support opportunities for students of their assigned facility; communicate to residents about campus events. The award may be renewed for a second year provided the recipient fulfills the responsibilities of the program and mentors a the next recipient.
