Robert and Ellen Thompson Working Families Scholarship (Freshman Applicants)
To qualify initially, students must meet/complete the following:
- newly-enrolled freshmen attending full-time
- a minimum high school GPA of 3.4
- demonstrate financial need via a FAFSA Student Aid Index between -$1,500 and $16,000
- demonstrate a past history of extracurricular activity and community service
- must not be a dependent of an SVSU employee eligible for tuition discount
A minimum ACT score of 24 or minimum SAT score of 1120 may be a factor in selection but is not required for eligibility
This scholarship will be renewed for up to 7 additional semesters (8 total) provided the student meets all criteria for renewal.
- complete a minimum of twenty hours of community service per academic year
- complete (or demonstrate a plan to complete) 30 applicable credits per academic year as defined by the official degree audit
- maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 reviewed at the end of each semester
- continue to annually complete the FAFSA or its equivalent
- not revoke the FERPA waiver they authorized when they initially applied for the scholarship
