Robert and Ellen Thompson Scholarship for Working Families (Freshman Applicants)

To qualify initially, students must meet/complete the following:

  • newly-enrolled freshmen attending full-time
  • a minimum high school GPA of 3.4
  • demonstrate financial need via a FAFSA Expected Family Contribution of $12000 or less
  • demonstrate a past history of extracurricular activity and community service

A minimum ACT score of 24 or minimum SAT score of 1120 may be a factor in selection but is not required for eligibility

This scholarship will be renewed for up to 7 additional semesters (8 total) provided the student meets all criteria for renewal.

  • complete a minimum of twenty hours of community service per academic year on behalf of an SVSU club or organization each semester they receive the scholarship
  • complete (or demonstrate a plan to complete) 30 applicable credits per academic year as defined by the official degree audit
  • maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
