Walbro Corporation and the Walpole Family

Walbro Corporation and the Walpole Family

Walter E. Walpole was the founder and driving force behind the success of Walbro Corporation in Cass City, Michigan. At the time of his death in 1987, Mr. Walpole was serving as Chairman of the Board. In 1988, the corporation established the scholarship fund to recognize Mr. Walpole’s friendship and support of Saginaw Valley State University. His colleagues also wished to perpetuate his commitment to the full development of individual potential which was so eloquently exhibited in his own life.

SVSU recognized Mr. Walpole with an Honorary Doctor of Humanities Degree in 1982. Mr. Walpole’s son, Robert, served on the SVSU Board of Control, including a term as Chairman. He also served on the SVSU Foundation Board of Directors. Robert was a Vice President with Walbro Corporation for many years.

The family continues to support and enhance the scholarship fund to provide more opportunities for SVSU students.
