W.R. Collings (Dow Corning)

Dr. W.R. Collings was among the first incorporators of Saginaw Valley College in 1963 and was a former President of Dow Corning Corporation in Midland. Articles co-authored by Dr. Collings appeared in a number of scholarly and technical publications. In 1967, Dr. Collings received the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ prestigious Founders Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Chemical Engineering. Associates of Dr. Collings’ at Dow Corning Corporation established the W.R. Collings Fund in 1966. This fund continues to support the scholarship program today. One of the principal streets on campus, Collings Drive, is named for Dr. Collings.
