Thomas and Wendy Bird

Boice and Jean Bird, longtime Saginaw residents, strongly supported higher education throughout their lives. Their family owned and operated Boice Bird & Sons Painting and Schmeirheim Electric, staples in the Saginaw employment community for years. In establishing this scholarship program, their son, Thomas Bird, wishes to honor his parents’ focus on quality education, and assist future generations in realizing the many benefits achieved by collegiate studies. Thomas and his wife, Wendy, are both alumni of SVSU. Thomas earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering, while Wendy’s degree is in French. Wendy’s father, William Hoffmann, helped found the History Department at SVSU.
