Shawn and Georgina Wilson

Mr. and Mrs. Shawn Wilson of Midland, Michigan established a scholarship to encourage first generation and veterans to attend and provide financial assistance to students pursuing degrees at Saginaw Valley State University. The scholarship is named on behalf of Georgina’s and Shawn’s fathers. Both Mr. Espinoza and Mr. Wilson are retired General Motors autoworkers, in Saginaw and Bay City, Michigan, respectively. Jorge T. Espinoza is a first-generation American citizen and George A. Wilson honorably served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. Mr. Wilson was bestowed The Purple Heart, after being wounded in combat. The scholarship is named after Mr. Espinoza and Mr. Wilson for their belief in the American Dream and that anything is possible though education and hard work. Shawn Wilson is currently the Director of the Office of Multicultural Student Services at SVSU.
