Russell H. and Maxine E. Smith Memorial Foundation

Russell H. Smith’s career with Bay City Bank (now Chemical Bank) spanned 56 years of distinguished service. He began as a messenger in 1923, and later became president before his retirement in 1979. Mr. Smith, and his wife, Maxine, were life long residents of Bay City and were active members of several community organizations. They gave generously of their time, money, and leadership to many important projects. Mr. and Mrs. Smith established The Russell H. and Maxine E. Smith Foundation in 1995 to support programs and projects that benefit the people of Bay County. The Foundation works with government, civic, service, educational, and philanthropic organizations to identify grant recipients.
