Ronald A. Schlicker

Ronald Schlicker was born in Saginaw in September, 1935. He was a lifelong resident, and was living in Saginaw Township at the time of his death in January 2006. Mr. Schlicker served in the U.S. Army during the 1950’s. He was a special tool maker for General Motors for thirty-seven years before his retirement in 1991. Mr. Schlicker enjoyed traveling, polka dancing, and working in his garden.

He left his entire estate (over $1 million) to provide scholarships for SVSU students from Saginaw, Bay, and Midland County. He wanted to help students who demonstrated academic achievement and needed financial assistance to meet the costs of their education.
