Robert W. (Bob) Loftus

SVSU alumnus Robert Loftus established a football scholarship in honor of Coach Muddy Waters. Bob was recruited in 1977 to play football for the Cardinals by Coach Waters, from New Jersey to SVSC as a scholarship player. As the team Captain for his ’79 and ’80 seasons, Bob was instrumental in leading the Cardinals to win the 1979 GLIAC Championship.

Coach Waters was a significant influence in Bob’s life, both as a coach and mentor, during his time at SVSC. He gave Bob a chance. Coach Waters provided not just football knowledge but lessons and examples that resonated with Bob during his entrepreneurial professional life. It is Bob’s intentions to honor Coach Muddy Waters by supporting SVSU football student-athletes who are existing team members, joining the team as a freshman, or a transfer student-athlete.
