Rajkumari Mondol Wiener and Dr. Merlyn Mondol

Merlyn Mondol joined the SVSU faculty in 1969 and was Professor of Psychology until her retirement in May 2002. During her distinguished 33-year teaching career, she served as chair of her department for eight years, and was instrumental in developing the Psychology curriculum. Dr. Mondol’s scholarly and professional activities brought recognition to the University and she has been acknowledged for numerous community service activities. She developed an early commitment to international perspectives within the classroom, and has continued to encourage global understanding and goodwill through her leadership in international friendship organizations. The Board of Control bestowed on Dr. Mondol the title of “Professor Emerita.”

Two of Dr. Mondol’s children are graduates of SVSU: Rajkumari (Mondol) Wiener graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and Rajendra Mondol graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. Rajkumari established this scholarship in 2003 to honor her mother’s distinguished career and accomplishments, and to promote campus diversity.
