Principals and Employees of Weinlander Fitzhugh

Founded in 1944, Weinlander Fitzhugh has grown from a small, local accounting practice to a highly respected multi-office operation with offices in Bay City, Clare, Gladwin, and West Branch. The firm believes in giving back to the community, and its employees are involved in many different facets of volunteerism and service. Weinlander Fitzhugh feels it is necessary to contribute significantly to the community’s economic and civic growth, and that education is a key part of that growth. The purpose of the scholarship is to support and encourage students whose families have not traditionally sought college degrees, in the hopes of building a stronger workforce better able to serve our communities and foster economic growth.

Jerome Yantz, a principal of the firm, was a member of the SVSU Board of Control and a long-time member of the SVSU Foundation Board of Directors. Mr. Yantz and his wife, Dianne, were strong supporters of the scholarship fund. Walter Weinlander and his wife, Carol, and Frederick Fitzhugh and his wife, Elizabeth, were also been loyal supporters of the scholarship fund, dedicated to enhancing it to provide opportunities for a greater number of students.

The scholarship fund was established in 2002 to assist first generation college students, and/or children or grandchildren of Weinlander Fitzhugh employees.
