Oscar P. and Louise H. Osthelder

The Oscar P. and Louise H. Osthelder Charitable Foundation began as a charitable trust managed by Manufacturers National Bank of Detroit. It was created with funds from the estate of Louise H. Osthelder in 1972. Mr. and Mrs. Osthelder were residents of Bay City. The legacy they left behind for their community was “…exclusively for religious, scientific, charitable, and educational purposes within the Bay Area Community.” In 1992, the funds were transferred to the Bay Area Community Foundation, where it is known as The Oscar P. and Louise H. Osthelder Charitable Foundation.

The scholarship was established in 1982 to reward achievement and assist with the costs of education for students at SVSU.
