Northern Tube / Tubular Metal Systems

Northern Tube / Tubular Metal Systems

This scholarship was created by Northern Tube in 1997, and in 1998, they renamed the scholarship in memory of a respected long-time employee, Gerald Trudell. Mr. Trudell began his employment at Northern Tube in 1948, and retired 45 years later. His mechanical insight, technical skills, metal working knowledge, and manufacturing brilliance concerning metal tubing played a significant role in Northern Tube achieving its dominant market position.

Mr. Trudell was the recipient of twelve U.S. and Canadian patents. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Irene, and devoted father to their six children. Northern Tube was renamed Tubular Metal Systems in 2006. The scholarship was established to support and encourage students in the field of Engineering.
