Mrs. Carolyn Zielinski

Douglas Zielinski was born and raised in Bay County and attended Bay City Central High School. Following his lifelong dream to become an engineer, Mr. Zielinski attended Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University. He graduated from SVSU in 1973 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, and completed an internship at Saginaw Steering Gear, a division of General Motors.

Mr. Zielinski headed the Research and Development Department at Chicago Rawhide Corporation in Elgin, Illinois. He became Vice President of Operations at Precision Rubber Company in Lebanon, Tennessee, where he became involved in acquisitions, ultimately becoming part of the Wynn Corporation. Following this transition, he became involved with stream lining companies and positioning them for takeover bids from other corporations.

He received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Phoenix College in San Francisco. Mr. Zielinski was an active member of the many Lutheran Churches to which he belonged. He always offered encouragement to his two daughters in their educational endeavors. Mr. Zielinski passed away in 2003 at the age of 52.

The scholarship fund was established in 2008 by his wife, Carolyn, to honor the memory of her husband and his dedication and excellence in his field.
