Mr. James P. and Dr. Cheryl Dwyer

Jim Dwyer, Sr. was a hard worker whose favorite saying was, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” He came from a difficult family background where nothing was given to him, and believed in working hard to make one’s own luck. He expected people to work to their potential, and always looked for the good in others. He was grateful for what he had, and sought opportunities to help people who needed a break, who were less fortunate than he was.

Mr. Dwyer is remembered by his family and friends as always setting a good example as a person; having the confidence to strive for something more, and coping with the losses and tragedies in his life by “dusting himself off” and continuing on. Since he was always generous to causes close to his heart and was so committed to helping others, a scholarship to give hard working students a helping hand is a fitting tribute to his generosity and desire to “pay it forward.” His son and daughter-in-law established this scholarship in his memory.
