Means Industires has its roots in the automotive industry and through their support have established an annual Mechanical Engineering Scholarship. Means Industries has been delivering quality products since 1922. Means Industries is a developer and producer of highly engineered mechanical components and assemblies. Four Michigan plants with two located in Saginaw, one in Vassar, and one in Melvindale cover a combined quarter million square feet.

AMSTED Industries, the parent company, owns a diversified portfolio of manufacturers of industrial components serving primarily the railroad, vehicular, construction and building markets. The company engages in design and development, product testing, and program management.

Means Industries, Inc. holds the following certification: ISO/TS 16949 for the design and assembly of automotive transmission components. The scholarship was established in 1998 to assist students seeking degrees at SVSU in Mechanical Engineering.
