Lawrence H. and Linda L. Sims

Lawrence and Linda Sims have a long history of community service in the Great Lakes Bay Region and SVSU. Lawrence retired as the CEO of the Saginaw County United Way in 2019 after decades of service in the business, political and philanthropic community. Linda served on SVSU’s Board of Control from 1998 to 2005 including two years as chair. She was the executive director of communications and government affairs at the university from 2015-2019. In addition, she served on the SVSU Foundation Board of Directors for over 15 years and remains an Honorary Director. The Sims have endowed the Sims Public Speaking Contest that awards scholarships to SVSU students who compete annually in a public speaking competition at the university.
