Joseph and Susan Vogl

Coach “Joe” Vogl was involved with coaching the SVSU Men’s Varsity Golf team for 26 years before he quit coaching briefly from 2002-2008 to pursue upper level management positions within the SVSU Athletic Department. As parting recognition for his many years of service, newly appointed Head Golf Coach, Andrew Bethune, honored Joe with the establishment of this yearly award. For several years the recipient of this award had only seen his name placed on the plaque. Joe, his wife, Susan, and sons, Drew and Dustin, decided to fund this honor annually to provide the recipients with a monetary award. Joe later returned to his coaching role after his time in the SVSU Foundation Office as Director of Annual Giving, working with Andy Bethune, the Foundation’s Executive Director. He retired from SVSU in 2020.
