Hideki Kihata

Hideki Kihata served SVSU from 1987-2022. During his 35 years’ service, he was the chair of the Art Department for 25 years. He is a recipient of the House Family Award for Teacher impact, Earl Warrick Award for Excellence in Research, and Faculty Association Outstanding Mentoring Award. He received his BFA in photography and painting/drawing from Michigan State University and his MFA from The University of Cincinnati.
A portion of the House Family Award for Teacher Impact provides funds the recipient may designate for the benefit of SVSU students. Professor Kihata chose to direct those funds toward the establishment of this scholarship.
