Harvey Randall Wickes

Harvey Randall Wickes was president of the companies forming the Wickes Corporation in 1941, and continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1964. In 1946, he established the Harvey Randall Wickes Foundation to promote his philanthropic interests. The Wickes Foundation was a major donor to the very first fund drive to acquire the land on which the SVSU campus was built.

In addition to their long history of providing scholarships for SVSU students, the Wickes Foundation has contributed to many major projects at the University, including the Library, the Regional Education Center, the Fine Arts Center, Founders Hall, the Football Complex, the Harvey Randall Wickes Endowed Chair in International Studies, the James V. Finkbeiner Endowed Chair in Ethics, the Harvey Randall Wickes Chair in Nursing, and the Braun Fellowships. Wickes Hall, SVSU’s main administration building, and the Harvey Randall Wickes Football Stadium are named in honor of Mr. Wickes and his philanthropic vision.

A portion of the Wickes Scholarship funds are allocated to help student athletes.
