Friends of Nancy and Steve Mattar

Nancy and Steve Mattar started a parent cheering group for the SVSU Swim and Dive Team that is recognized throughout the conference. They have helped parents form bonds and friendships by organizing tailgates before every meet (no matter the weather), and never missed a meet, home or away. Inspired by cheering their own daughter on as a member of the team, they make sure every swimmer or diver is cheered on. Nancy and Steve lead cheers and teach other parents the SVSU fight song. To keep the cheering section in great spirits, they make sure every parent has a name tag lanyard, beads, and pom pons to cheer from the stands, and they know every parent’s and athlete’s name.
To recognize all they have done to inspire the team’s fighting spirit, this scholarship was established through contributions from fellow cheering group members.
