Friends and Family of Morley N. Burns

Morley graduated from Rochester Adams High School in 2010 where he lettered in soccer for three years. He was a team captain his senior year, when the team made it to the High School State semifinals. Morley was a 2015 graduate of Saginaw Valley State University, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Marketing. He excelled as a member of the SVSU Men’s Soccer Team playing in 76 games and starting 50. Morley was a member of the Cardinal Team when they won GLAC Championships in 2011 and 2012. Both teams went on to play in the NCAA Tournament. The 2012 team won the regular season and GLIAC tournament championship (“The Double”) for the first time ever and advanced to the National Championship game. Morley played a key role in the 2012 tournament run, when he scored as the 8" shooter of the 9-shot shootout in the very first game of the tournament against Quincy. In 2024, the 2012 Men’s Soccer Team was inducted into the SVSU Hall of Fame.
Morley met his wife in 2014 when she was rooming with some of Women Soccer players at SVSU, and the two married in April of 2018. He loved sports, being active, and the outdoors.
Morley passed away in 2019 at the age of 27 after an 18-month battle with mesothelioma, a very rare form of cancer for young adults. His parents, family, and friends hold a memorial golf outing to honor his memory and raise funds and awareness in the fight against mesothelioma. To continue Morley’s legacy at SVSU and help future student athletes succeed, they have generously decided to direct some proceeds from this annual event to the establishment of a scholarship in his name.
