Frederick "Fritz" Horak and Lucy Horak
Frederick Douglas Horak passed away October 16, 2002 at the age of 18, as the result of an automobile accident. Fred was a senior at Bay City Western High School, and an accomplished golfer who was a four-year varsity letter winner. He participated in three Saginaw Valley and Bay County team championships. Fred enjoyed hunting and fly-fishing with his dad, and was an avid downhill skier.
Natalia Ruth Horak passed away November 13, 2001 from bacterial meningitis at the age of 16. Tali was a sophomore at Bay City Western High School where she was an excellent student with an exuberant personality. Tali won varsity letters in swimming and golf, and like her brother, was an avid downhill skier.
Their mother, Lucy Horak, previously served as Secretary of the SVSU Foundation Board of Directors and is a dedicated community volunteer. Their father, Frederick “Fritz” Horak, is the CEO of F.P. Horak Company, Inc., a leading printer in Bay City. Mr. and Mrs. Horak wish to provide assistance to students planning careers in health care or human services in the hopes of contributing to the programs and services which may prevent other young people from losing their lives tragically. The scholarship was established in 2003.
