Family of Walter T. James

Walter T. James received his doctoral degree from Columbia State University in the 1960’s and taught at Saginaw Valley State University from 1968-1976. Dr. James served as Chair of the Sociology Department, Dean of Professional Studies, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Acting President. Dr. James established the Criminal Justice and Social Work programs and participated the planning process for the University’s second major instructional facility.

The scholarship fund was established in 1999 by Dr. James’ family to honor his memory and his many accomplishments.
