Family and Friends of Larry Engel

Dr. Engel was the Director of School and University Partnerships at Saginaw Valley State University from 1998-2001. Previously, Dr. Engel was Superintendent of Saginaw Intermediate School District from 1988-1998. Following his position at SVSU, Dr. Engel did independent consulting work. Dr. Engel passed away at the age of 55 in July 2001 after a brief illness. He is remembered by his friends as someone who empowered others.

Dr. Engel was a mentor to many of the staff and faculty in the College of Education, demonstrating the highest sense of standards and expectations. His family, friends, and colleagues established the scholarship fund in 2001 to commemorate his quiet help and service to others.
