Family and Friends of Herbert H. Lyon

Herbert H. Lyon was a native and long-time resident of Midland. Mr. Lyon was a Vice President of The Dow Chemical Company and for several years was director of corporate administration where he exhibited unique administrative skills. Mr. Lyon willingly shared his knowledge and leadership abilities in the areas of administration and finance with a number of organizations in the Tri-County area, including service as a director on the boards of The Dow Chemical Company, Chemical Financial Corporation, Wolohan Lumber Company and the Saginaw Valley State University Board of Fellows. Mr. Lyon received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from SVSU in 1983.

The scholarship fund was established in 1991 by friends of Mr. Lyon to honor his service, with the goal of perpetuating his qualities of leadership and service to his fellow man. His family continues to support the fund today.
