Family and Colleagues of Sally Edgerton-Netke
Dr. Sally Edgerton-Netke received her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degrees from Michigan State University. She began her career as an educator in the Lansing Public Schools where she taught for twenty-one years. She joined the SVSU faculty in 1987, and was as member of the SVSU Graduate Committee and Graduate Advisory Committee. She was also the Early Childhood Education Coordinator and Coordinator of the Off-Campus Graduate Education Center.
Dr. Edgerton-Netke maintained numerous professional and academic association memberships, including serving a three-year term as Chair of the Michigan Early Childhood Education Consortium and a five-year term as Vice President of the Michigan Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators. She presented at national conferences and pursued ongoing research in her field with collaborators from other universities.
Dr. Edgerton-Netke passed away in 2006, and is remembered by her SVSU colleagues and friends as the “mother” of the Early Childhood Education program and a driving force behind the growth and success of the Macomb Regional Education Center. The scholarship fund was established in 2007 with gifts from Dr. Edgerton-Netke’s colleagues, friends, and family.
