Dr. Robert L. Wintermyer
The former Ann L. Thomas graduated from Saginaw High School and received her R.N. degree from the Mercy School of Nursing in Grand Rapids. She worked for several years as a nurse for The Dow Chemical Company in Midland. In 1961, she married Robert M. Kuchinic, and they raised three daughters together, Kara Marie, Ann Elisabeth, and Kathryn Lynn. Ann and family lived in Japan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines during Bob’s tenure with The Dow Chemical Company before returning to Midland. Bob passed away in 2001.
In 2003, Ann married Robert L. Wintermyer, and they shared a love of traveling in the United States, Asia, and England. Ann loved Asian art and culture, spending time with her family, reading, walking, and playing bridge. Ann enjoyed and collected various forms of ancient Asian art. Ann was a compassionate, caring, loving, and giving person to all that knew her. She loved people and always had a warm and beautiful smile with a bubbly personality. She enjoyed friends, fun times, good food, and wine, and was an excellent cook! In addition to her three daughters, six grandchildren were her passion.
Ann felt that young people, who worked hard to fulfill their future success, should be given support to accomplish their goals! Unfortunately, Ann passed away unexpectedly in 2006, at the age of 68 years of age. Ann strongly believed that this country needs more highly trained and qualified nurses.
This scholarship is being established by Dr. Wintermyer to honor the memory of his wife and her dedication to excellence in her love of life and her profession.
