Dr. Robert C. Braddock
Dr. Robert Braddock joined the faculty of the History Department in 1970, where he developed the curriculum in Modern Europe and World History. Throughout his more than forty years of service to SVSU, Dr. Braddock took on a number of leadership and service roles, including three rotations as the department chair, a half-time assignment as Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs (1987-1989), the Director of International Programs (1989-1991), and Assistant Dean for the College of Arts and Behavioral Sciences (1991-1993). He developed the SVSU Soccer Program and served as its first coach for fifteen years.
Dr. Braddock received numerous honors and awards, including the SVSU Faculty Association’s University Service Award, the Franc M. Landee Award for Excellence in Teaching, the State of Michigan Council of Governing Boards Distinguished Faculty Award, the Ishihara Award for Co-Curricular Service, and the Thomas and Hilda Rush Distinguished Lectureship.
In addition to his distinguished teaching and administrative service to SVSU, Dr. Braddock consistently led one of the university ’s most popular study-abroad trips to London and taught courses through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, an educational program serving area seniors. Dr. Braddock was recognized with Professor Emeritus status by the SVSU Board of Control upon his retirement in 2013.
