Dom and Pam Monastiere
This scholarship was established by a gift from Mrs. Pamela G. Monastiere (wife of Dominic Monastiere) in recognition of his commitment to obtaining a college degree.
Dominic Monastiere was born in 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, graduated with Honors from Grosse Pointe High School and became the first member of his family to attend college. He was able to do so with student loans (which he repaid over a 10 year period following graduation) and by working as a full-time employee at the National Bank of Detroit (NBD) during his last 3 years of college.
Upon graduation in 1970, he continued to work at NBD until 1976 when he joined Michigan National Corporation and in 1983, he became President& CEO of Michigan National Bank in Midland, Michigan. In 1987, he joined Chemical Financial Corporation and became President& CEO of Chemical Bank-Bay Area in Bay City, Michigan. He retired from Chemical Bank in 2013.
During his career, he was very active in many community organizations and received several awards for his community service. In August, 2013, he became the Executive-in-Residence in the Carmona College of Business at Saginaw Valley State University. He also served for many years on the SVSU Foundation Board of Directors and retains Honorary Director standing.
