Claire and Toivo Myllykangas
Claire and Toivo Myllykangas were a childless couple who lived and worked in Saginaw for many years. To those who knew them, Mr. and Mrs. Myllykangas were outstanding examples of the American ideal of equality and opportunity. They believed strongly that an educated citizenry is the key to the realizations of the ideals of democracy. Mr. and Mrs. Myllykangas dedicated their estate to promoting opportunities for higher education for students of all races, creeds, colors, religious and national origins.
Since the 1980’s, the Myllykangas Education Trust provided scholarships for SVSU students. In 1999, a portion of the final assets of the trust were used to establish this endowed scholarship fund to recognize academic achievement and encourage continuing education.
