Barstow Foundation

Barstow Foundation

Barstow Foundation Scholarship was created to assist students who demonstrate scholastic achievement and potential, and need financial assistance in meeting their education costs. The Barstow Foundation was established by Florence K. Barstow in 1967 as a tribute to her husband, Edwin O. Barstow, and the civic and social concerns that characterized his life.

Dr. Barstow was one of the original pioneers of The Dow Chemical Company, retiring as Vice President and a member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Barstow was instrumental in the establishment of The Midland Community Center through his philanthropy. Dr. and Mrs. Barstow had six children, and their descendants currently serve as Trustees of the Foundation, together with Chemical Bank, Midland. The Barstow family has a diverse range of philanthropic interests and continues its focus on community service and has committed a significant portion of its grants and resources to the mid-Michigan area.
